Bari Piber was founded around the year 1950 by the famous pipe maker Viggo Nielsen. His sons Kai Nielsen and Jorgen Nielsen also worked very successfully in the company until 1975. The company had about thirty staff and made typical Danish models. In 1978 the company was sold to the German Van Eicken Tobaccos in Hamburg. In this period the company was led by Helmer Thomsen and Age Bogelund. In 1993 Helmer Thomsen took over the company and moved it back to Denmark, to the town of Vejen. For years the same method was used. The pipes were machined and refined and finished by hand.
